HHR is a working cattle ranch that is truly family owned and operated. Located on Old Julian Hwy. between Ramona and Santa Ysabel, this 140 acre working cattle ranch is home to hundreds of Holstein Heifers raised for a local dairy as well as Black Angus cows and calves raised for 4H projects and private sales.
Owners Henry Jaggi & Vickie Neilson are committed to offering boarders the services and attention they deserve. More family working and living at the ranch is Mike & Susan Jaggi and daughter Jessica. They all pride themselves in this unique approach to providing a real working family ranch atmosphere in a pristine and secluded location.
They also feel that this combination exposes both the rider and the horse many options in riding or training. Trail riding amongst the grazing cattle is something many horses or riders never have an opportunity to do. The Hatfield Creek runs through the property and offers creekside trails shaded by ancient oaks and enhanced by enormous boulders that show traces of the past activities of Native Americans. It's a taste of the old west some never experience. A great place to sit and ponder, boarders are welcome to ride to these locations and picnic for a while.
The hills surrounding the ranch's flat lands offer rougher and more challenging trails for the more adventurous horse and rider. The views from atop these destinations are breathtaking and you'll feel at one with nature while you watch the red tail hawks soar to their nesting spots below you. We suggest these trails to the more experienced horse and rider looking for a little adventure.
If you aren't interested in following the "cow trails", there are wide road style trails and pastures to ride through. We only ask that our trail riders "keep it at a walk" when outside the arenas and ALWAYS close the gate you opened when you pass through it. There is usually some regular ranching going on every day and you may even be around for a mini cattle drive or see the birth of a calf.
Off site trails are available as well and we are happy to provide maps of the area so you know what is private property and what is accessible.
